Puppy Training And Socializing

Our puppies are truly a part of our family.  We do everything possible so that you get a very happy and healthy puppy.  We invest a lot of time into our puppies.  We feel that it is exteremly important and should be a breeders respossibily to start our puppies on the right foot.

Socializing and training is very important and  is highly stressed here at Aspen Kennels.

These are some of the things that we do on a daily basis with our puppies.

Newborn and on- puppies are held daily.  This helps them get used diffents smells and it also helps with the developmental health of your puppy.  Our puppies are daily socialized with children and other animals (including our Mini Poodle, pet Rabbit and pet Persian cat).

3 days to 16 days old - We start using the Super Dog Program or Bio Sensor method to start our puppies out in the right direction.  It consists of 6 excercises, which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Each exercise involved handling puppies once each day.

Five benefits have been observed in canines that were exposed to the excercises that were used in the Super Dog Program.  These are improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate), stronger heart beats, stranger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress and greater resistance to disease.

Pups that were stimulated by these excercises were found to be more active and explored more than their non- stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations.

2 weeks old - We get our puppies used to baths and being bathed.   All puppies need grooming some just need more than others.  This is why we get all of our puppies used to being around a hair dryer and being brushed weekly.  So when it is time to bring your puppy to the groomer they are less likey to be afraid.

3 1/2 weeks old - we start potty training our puppies by bring them outside on the grass every hour to two hours.  So by 6 weeks our puppies rarly have accidents in the house. Crate training is also started.  This is one of the easiest methods to potty train your puppy.

5 to 6 weeks old- We start basic puppy obediance.  My husband has done dog training for over 18 years.  We work on training them sit, down, stay, and come commands.  We feel that this is very important to a puppies developement as well as good bonding time. This keeps your puppy thinking.  Plus we feel that if puppies have training started they are less likely to end up in a  pound or shelter.

Our Dogs

We look for three main things in our dogs: 1) healthy bloodlines (we try to stay away from genetic problems), 2) outstanding temperaments (everyone should have a dog that they can show off without worry that their dog will attack) and 3) looks (we all love a outstanding looking dog).

It took us alot of time and effort to find dogs that carry these quailities. With all our effort we found some wonderful dogs with awesome temperaments.

Healthy Dogs And Puppies

We take alot pride in the health of our dogs and puppies. We believe it is our resonsibility as a breeder to keep our dog and puppies in tip top shape.  We do not believe in over weight dog or puppies.  Our dogs and puppies are free to run our yard and get lots of excercise.  We never breed a dog unless he/she is in excellent health. We breed our females once a year, always skipping a heat cycle before we breed again. This ensures that our females are in excellent shape before we breed again.

Our puppies are kept on a regular schedule (feeding, excercise, and training). All of our puppies are kept on high quality food like Natural Choice.  This is an all natural puppy food that contains no corn products or chicken by- products.  It also contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin which which is very important to maintain healthy joints.  Puppies are wormed regularly and are kept up to date on shots. Whether you are picking your puppy up or shipping your puppy they are required to be seen by a vet.  We stand by the health of our puppies.  This is why we guarantee the health on our puppies.
